There’s something about a warm cup of tea that feels like a hug from the inside out. Personally, I drink tea year-round, but if you’re a fall and winter tea drinker, this recipe is especially for you!
This ginger turmeric tea is more than just cozy and delicious—it’s also a natural ally for your skin and overall health. During my own eczema and topical steroid withdrawal (TSW) journey, I leaned on soothing teas like this one to calm inflammation, boost immunity, and give my body a little extra support.
Why this tea is great for your skin healing journey
This tea is a powerhouse blend of natural ingredients with benefits that go far beyond taste:
- Ginger → Naturally anti-inflammatory, helps calm skin flare-ups, and supports digestion.
- Turmeric → Rich in curcumin, which helps reduce inflammation and oxidative stress.
- Cayenne or black pepper → Enhances absorption of curcumin and boosts circulation.
- Honey or maple Syrup (optional) → Adds natural sweetness while offering antimicrobial benefits.
- Lemon (optional) → A dose of vitamin C to support skin and immune health.
- Milk (optional) → Creates a creamy, soothing twist (try oat or coconut milk for dairy-free options).
Let’s dive into the recipe!
Soothing Ginger Turmeric Tea Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 large piece of fresh ginger, washed, scrubbed, and chopped
- 1 large piece of fresh turmeric, washed, scrubbed, and chopped
- A pinch of cayenne pepper (or black pepper if you prefer)
- 4 cups of filtered water
- Honey or maple syrup (optional, to sweeten)
- Lemon slices or juice (optional)
- Milk of choice (optional, for creaminess)
Instructions:
- Add chopped ginger, turmeric, and a pinch of pepper to a pot.
- Pour in filtered water and bring to a boil over high heat.
- Reduce to low heat and let simmer for at least 15 minutes.
- Strain into mugs and enjoy as is, or customize with your favourite add-ins.
Two delicious variations
- Ginger lemon tea – Add a few slices of lemon or a squeeze of fresh juice for a refreshing, citrusy flavour. Optional to sweeten as desired with honey, maple syrup, sugar or sugar alternative.
- Golden latte style – Stir in your favourite milk (dairy or non-dairy) for a creamy, comforting version. Optional to sweeten as desired with honey, maple syrup, sugar or sugar alternative.

This one is particularly comforting at night time before bed and can often help reduce overnight itchiness.
Not really a hot tea drinker? Let the mixture cool and serve it over ice for a refreshing skin-boosting iced tea.
