How I healed from my worst TSW symptoms in one year

How I healed from my worst TSW symptoms in one year

Looking back, it’s hard to believe how far I’ve come. A few years ago, topical steroid withdrawal (TSW) consumed my life—itching, burning, sleepless nights, and skin that felt impossible to live in. Today, I’m past the worst of it. My skin is no longer ruled by constant flares, and while I’m still working on my health every day, I finally feel like myself again.

This blog isn’t just about the misery of TSW—it’s about what helped me move forward within one year, the small steps that built momentum, and the lifestyle shifts that gave me hope when things felt impossible. If you’re in the middle of your own journey, I want to show you what worked for me and remind you that healing is possible, one step at a time.

Seeking help and finding guidance

During the most challenging part of my healing, I turned to prayer, asking for true healing and direction. That’s when I discovered Eczema Conquerors, led by a team who understands how to get to the true root causes of eczema. It was the missing piece I had been searching for.

Through the program, I began working with a dedicated practitioner who, for the first time, treated me as a complete case. The program helped me understand that my eczema and allergies were symptoms of deeper root issues within my body - that could be addressed. Together, we supported my internal systems with supplements, homeopathic protocols and lifestyle changes that focused on:

  • Gut healing
  • Drainage pathways
  • Liver and gallbladder health
  • Adrenal and thyroid support
  • Immunity building
  • And more

Everything in my history began to make sense, and I finally felt validated and hopeful. What was even more amazing, was learning that my body is capable of restoring itself when supported with the right tools.

Supporting my body from the inside

The next major step was changing my diet to minimize inflammation and give my body the best chance to heal. I adopted a clean, anti-inflammatory diet by avoiding:

  • Gluten
  • Dairy
  • Sugar
  • Processed foods
  • Alcohol

This was not easy, but it made a huge difference. Over time, as my body healed, I was able to reintroduce many of these foods without flaring—a sign that my gut and immune system were getting stronger.

Creating a calm environment

Healing wasn’t just about what I put in my body, but also how I cared for my external environment. I made several lifestyle changes that supported my skin and reduced everyday triggers:

  • Water & air quality: Filtered drinking water, added a shower filter, and used an air purifier at home.
  • Light & fabric: Opted for breathable, natural fabrics and used a red light machine to support recovery.
  • Phototherapy: Helped improve the skin on my hands and feet.
  • Castor oil packs: Regularly supported detox pathways and circulation.
  • Non-toxic lifestyle: Switched to natural cleaning products, gentle laundry routines, and body soaps.
  • Moisturization: Created my own natural whipped shea body butter to nourish and protect my skin barrier.

These small, consistent changes helped reduce the stress on my skin and gave it room to heal.

Life after TSW

I’m grateful to say that I’ve made it through topical steroid withdrawal. My worst symptoms are behind me, and today I focus on continuing to strengthen my health and support my body from the inside out. Healing didn’t stop when my skin cleared—it’s an ongoing journey of nourishing my body, reducing toxic load, and caring for myself holistically.

If you’re going through TSW or severe eczema, please know you are not alone. My hope is that my story offers you encouragement and a reminder that recovery is possible.
